Fernando at Fontana di Trevi
The Trevi Fountain, Fontana di Trevi in Italian, is the largest — standing 25.9 meters (85 feet) high and 19.8 meters (65 feet) wide — and most ambitious of the Baroque fountain of Rome. It is located in the rione (region) of Trevi.
Fernando throwing coins in the fountain. A traditional legend holds that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return to Rome. Approximately 3,000 Euros are thrown into the fountain each day and are collected at night. The money has been used to subsidize a supermarket for Rome's needy.

it is indeed Majestic Sonia, beautiful pictures by Fernando.
It has some Bernini influence.
Thank you for posting these. wish i could throw a coin.
Sonia, fantasticas fotos. Famosa fonte, talvez a mais famosa do mundo, e com direito a todas as tradições e supertições: moedinhas jogadas de costas para ela!!!
Parabéns!
Bjs
Sonia, when I threw my coins in the fountain (several times as a teacher traveling with students), I didn't know that I'd be able to return virtually, through you magnificent photos. Thanks!!
That is one crowded fountain!!!Is it the one from the movie Three Coins in a Fountain? It is very beautiful...I admire that you fought the crowds to get these!
Whenever I see or read anything about "The Fountain"...(Sooo Beautiful....), I think of that old movie. "THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN"....I don't think it was a bad film, but it wasn't that great, except for the whole thing about the coins in the fountain....I cannot get over how much money is collected each day...And how wonderful that they use it for something so truly needed!
Oh I forgot to say that I think Fernando's pictures are WONDERFUL! I've never seen the fountain in such detail!
Hi Sonia,
I love love love this photo's!
Why? I Lived in Rome for almost 6 years and this brings back some great memories Thanks! :)
I always used to meet my friend at the Trevi fontains because behind there is a great Italian ice store Hmmmm !!!
:)
I love the photo of the couple married by the fountain. Gorgeous!!
I was also there, but cannot remember that the crowd was THAT big! Of course I also threw my coin, but haven't yet been back - except for this photo visit and a recent review of the famous Dolce Vita film.
You can really feel the atmosphere from these photos! Must be something for the married couple to remember!
Thank you for your comment on my blog.
Your photos are stunning! We visited Trevi Fountain at night, and the crowds were just as intense!
My family visited Italy (actually 10 countries) over the summer--I'm blogging about that, too. Just finished Venice.
Lovely pictures there, and so many people!
Wonderful detail on the fountain.
Did you read in the news that someone threw a bottle of red dye into the Trevi fountain and the whole thing turned red.
But the water was changed and it was back to normal the next day.
I have always wanted to visit this fountain but the crowds of tourists just blew me away! I cant believe so many people for one fountain - I would have thought there was a famous actor around somewhere or the pope with so many people! Amazing shots!

What glorious architecture you have in Italy!
I don't think you could take a bad picture of this fountain but these really are excellent photographs. Tell your son, well done!

Beautiful photos! I was once in Rome in the dim and distant past, when I was young, and I threw coins in the Fontana di Trevi, but never returned! A pity, but I went to other countries.
